As we all know, battery electric vehicles have brought boom in the market of automobiles. They have moved a large percentage of automobile users towards themselves with their significant features. The main component of the battery electric vehicles is their batteries which enable power supply for the propulsion of the vehicles. Further, this battery has to be charged regularly for the continuous supply of the power. Therefore, there is an apparatus which is used for charging the battery of the BEVs.

As discussed above, the battery of a BEVs play a significant role in their propulsion. Similarly, the charging of these batteries is also one of an important task which should be done for enduring the supply of power. The apparatus required for charging the battery of BEVs constitutes a battery charge controller, a battery charger, and a battery.
The battery charge controller of the apparatus determines the charge status of the battery and on finding an under-charge condition of initializing, the battery is charged by an expected charge amount depending upon the initial under-charge condition during the charging process. At the end of the charging process, the charge controller detects the actual charge amount and compares it with the expected charge amount. This will help in finding out the difference charge value and in a case, this value is more than that of a predetermined reference value, then an additional predetermined amount will be charged by the controller over the battery. The battery charger receives an external power and is connected to the charge controller and the battery. This external power is further utilized for charging the battery under the control of the charge controller. The battery pack is capable of being charged by receiving the external power and to discharge by supplying power. There are some devices or apparatuses in which there is provision of a switch with which the external power supply to the battery can be stopped by turning it Off. Step Involved In Charging the Battery The charging of a battery of the BEVs has to be done in a very systematic manner so that it should get charged properly and completely. The very first step is to detect an under-charge condition of the battery. After determining it, adjust an expected charging amount depending upon the amount of under-charge and begin the process of charging the battery. Now, wait for this charging process to get over and calculate the difference between the two that is between the expected charging amount and an actual charging amount utilized for charging the battery. If this computed difference value is more than that of the reference value then further charge the battery to its predetermined amount. Now after this, bring the charging status at a fully charged status of the battery. And if found, the computed difference value less than that of the reference value then cease the charging process. Therefore, the battery of the BEVs should always be charged in a proper manner so that your vehicle should give its complete mileage.
