Buy A Hybrid Electric Toyota Prius

The hybrid electric Toyota Prius was one of the first mass produced hybrid cars produced. One of the reasons for its popularity is that is has one of the highest gas mileages in the United States, with around 48 miles per gallon with city driving and 45 miles per gallon on the highway.

With rising gas prices and other environmental issues, more individuals are choosing to buy hybrid electric vehicles. The Toyota Prius has a series-parallel configuration, which means that it can run on gasoline alone, on the batteries alone, or on a combination of gas and battery power. The driving conditions determine how the car will operate. This helps increase efficiency and reduces the amount of fuel that is needed.

The first electric Prius was sold in Japan in 1997. The company began selling the car in the United States in 2001. The first models were compact sedans, and although the car didn't sell in large numbers in the United States, it did attract a lot of attention.

Since then, a newer model gives owners more room inside the car and a less compact design. It is now considered a mid-sized sedan and features a hatchback. The new design featured several new improvements.

First, an all-electric compressor replaced the engine run air conditioning. Before, the engine would need to start running every minute or so when the air conditioning was on. Now, the electric compressor keeps the engine off, saving fuel and energy.

The 2004 model also introduced more power and better fuel efficiency. The vehicle could reach speeds of up to 105 miles per hour when both the batteries and engine were running at the same time. The electric Toyota Prius could reach speeds of 60 mph in around 10 seconds.

Although not yet available in the United States, the Toyota Prius has the option in Japan and Europe of coming with the ability to parallel and reverse park through an on-board computer. Over 80 percent of buyers in Japan have chosen the option, making it likely that it will be available more widely in the future.

In the future, Toyota plans on expanding the design of Prius models and offering different sizes. There may also be a plug-in version available, an option that many people have expressed an interest in. Whatever Toyota's plans are, the electric Toyota Prius appears to be here to stay.
